AHS is chess champion of online Jesuit Athletic Meet

Representing Ateneo de Manila High School, ASHS chess wizards Cymone Calpito (12-Xavier) and Monchoy Gelvezon (12-Bobola)- together with AJHS students Gian Alingog (8-Regis), Tiel Blanca (8-Pongracz), Liam Batnag (9-Baena), Brix Magugat (9-Baena), and Raiz Roxas (10-Maunoir) - emerged as champions of the first Jesuit Athletic Meet (JAM) Online Chess Tournament! Held from February 20 to 21, 2021, the games utilized the Zoom and lichess.org platforms.

Participating in the 2021 JAM were student athletes from Ateneo de Manila University, Xavier School San Juan, Xavier School Nuvali, Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan, Ateneo de Naga University, Ateneo de Davao, Ateneo de Iloilo, and Ateneo de Zamboanga, which hosted the event.  

The AHS chess team was coached by Ildefonso Datu.
