Ateneo JHS/SHS boys place 2nd in UAAP 79 Boys’ Swimming

The Ateneo Junior & Senior High School swimmers gave their all to win the Ateneo an unprecedented 12-peat, but in the end, University of Santo Tomas was crowned UAAP Season 79 Swimming champion of the junior boys’ division last October 23, 2016. Here’s how Team Ateneo JHS/SHS fared in terms of podium finishes the four days of UAAP Season 79 competition held at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex swimming pool from October 21-24, 2016:

4x50m medley relay: Rich Canlas, Joseph Go, Aki Cariño, & Sebastian Francisco, bronze
100m freestyle: Rafael Barreto (La Storta/10-Pongracz) , silver
200m individual medley: Wacky Santos, silver
800m freestyle: Wacky Santos, silver
4x200m freestyle relay: Aki Cariño, Emilio Viovicente, Jolo Viovicente, & David Dy- silver
 
DAY 2: Oct. 22 (Saturday)
 
400m freestyle: Wacky Santos, silver; Rafael Barreto, bronze
50m breaststroke: Sebastian Francisco, bronze
100m freestyle: Rafael Barreto, silver
200m backstroke: Wacky Santos, silver
4x100m freestyle relay: Sebastian Francisco, Joseph Go, Aki Cariño, David Dy- bronze
 
DAY 3 Oct. 23, 2016 (Sunday)

200m freestyle: Rafael Barreto, silver
50m butterfly: Rafael Barreto, gold
100m backstroke: Aki Cariño, bronze
400m individual medley: Wacky Santos, gold + new UAAP record
4x50m freestyle relay: Rich Canlas, Sebastian Francisco, Joshua Taleon & Joseph Go: silver

1500m freestyle: Wacky Santos, silver
50m backstroke: Rafael Barreto, silver
200m butterfly: Wacky Santos, silver
50m freestyle: Rafael Barreto, gold
4x100m medley relay: Aki Cariño, Joshua Taleon, Daniel de Guzman, & Joseph Go- bronze

None of our swimmers won medals in the 100m breaststroke or the 200m breaststroke.
