As reported by Inquirer Golf on its facebook page last July 4, Ateneo Senior High School student Aidric Chan of ABM/12-Bobola "...narrowly lost the Boys 15-18 title at the FCG International Junior Golf Championship at the Sycuan Golf Club in El Cajon, California. Chan finished the three day tournament in a tie for first with an American and a Thai with identical 1 under 209 totals and had to go to sudden death holes to determine the champion. The Thai fell just after the first hole while Aidric battled his American counterpart shot per shot up to the fifth knockout hole. Aidric's second shot on Hole no. 5 nicked the edge of the branches of the tree line causing his ball to fall 60 yards short of the green. His approach shot took the ball to within 6 feet of the hole with his opponent getting a lucky break as his pitch in three on the converted 470 yard par 4 hole luckily hitting the pin to send the ball spiraling down to within inches of the hole. Aidric then failed to convert the save par putt to force another extra hole and to finally concede the crown to the American. It was still a gallant stand by Aidirc who will be among top Philippine bets for next week's 2018 IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championship at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, CA."
