Guzman is 'Most RBI' awardee of Palaro 2019 baseball
Playing for the NCR secondary boys’ baseball team, incoming Ateneo Senior High School Grade 12 student Marcel Guzman received the award for Most Runners Batted In (RBI) at the conclusion of the Palarong Pambansa 2019 baseball tournament. The recipient of the UAAP Season 81 junior baseball championship’s award for Most Stolen Bases, Guzman had injured his shoulder in April and had to undergo intense physical therapy so he could play at Palarong Pambansa.
Consisting primarily of Ateneans, the NCR secondary boys’ baseball team finished Palaro in 3rd place. The Ateneans on the team are Kean Agcaoili, Joaquin Casanova, Yuan de la Rosa, Dax Fabella, Marcel Guzman, Ohmid Halabisaz, Zeke Laygo, Gabby Mendoza, Joaquin Mendoza, Matt San Juan, Aloi Tuprio, and Zach Urbina. They were coached by Pepe Jose, Jun Jun Bonifacio and Emerson Barandoc.
Palarong Pambansa 2019 was held in Davao City from April 26 to May 3, 2019. NCR emerged as overall champion of the games with a total of 78 gold, 69 silver, and 48 bronze medals.
