Swimmer Wacky Santos is MVP of Palarong Pambansa 2018

Wacky Santos With three gold medals, two silver medals, and a new national record in the 200m individual medley, swimmer Phillip Joaquin “Wacky” Santos was named secondary boys swimming MVP of Palarong Pambansa 2018 last April. His new record in the 200m individual medley broke a record that had held for 20 years.  Santos’ gold medals were for the record-breaking 200m individual medley, the 800m freestyle, and the 200m backstroke. The two silver medals were for the 200m butterfly and the 100m backstroke. Santos swam for the National Capital Region (NCR), which emerged as Palarong Pambansa overall champion for the 14th straight year. Palarong Pambansa was held in Vigan, Ilocos Sur from April 14-19, 2018.
In the past few years, Wacky Santos has won dozens of medals in various swimming competitions locally and internationally. He is currently a grade 11 student in the STEM strand of the Ateneo Senior High School.
