Three ASHS co-eds make Ateneo history at UAAP 80 fencing tournament

(L-R) Mika Aromin, Cynthia Avecilla, Jesyca Khoo  Three Ateneo Senior High School co-eds- Jesyca Khoo (11-Garnet), Mika Aromin (12-Denn), and Cynthia Avecilla (12-Beyzym)- made Ateneo history at the UAAP Season 80 fencing tournament when they became the first Ateneans to win medals in the girls’ division of UAAP fencing.  Jesyca won a bronze medal for individual epee on February 9, 2018. The next day, she and teammates Mika Aromin and Cynthia Avecilla won bronze in the epee team event on February 10, becoming the first Ateneo females to win a team event medal in the girls' division of UAAP fencing.

Aromin, Avecilla, and Khoo placed 5th in the UAAP Season 80 girls’ division, behind champion UE, second placer UST, third placer FEU, and fourth placer DLSU.

 
The UAAP Season 80 fencing tournament was held from February 7-11, 2018 at the National Fencing Hall of the Philsports Complex in Pasig City.
