Joel Falgui to co-facilitate pioneering Ignatian Global Citizenship workshop
Mr. Joel Falgui, faculty of the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School English subject area, has been chosen by the worldwide Educate Magis network of Jesuit schools to co-facilitate a first-of-its-kind workshop on Ignatian Global Citizenship. Mr. Falgui will facilitate the synchronous global citizenship course with Mrs. Mary Joy Torres, a World History and Research teacher from Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu.
Per the Educate Magis website, the “Ignatian Global Citizenship” course will give participants the opportunity to “…learn the importance of Global Citizenship and work with other educators from different Jesuit schools around the world with materials and activities which can be used to teach and accompany their students to become global citizens.”
The course will give an introduction to the topic of Global Citizenship Education and will consist of five lessons:
1) What is Global Citizenship
2) Human Rights and Global Goals
3) Social Justice
4) Right to Education
5) Caring for our Common Home.
The course is open to Ignatian educators from Jesuit schools and will be held on Wednesdays from September 29 to November 10, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, Philippine time.
