Lucas Llarena wins gold for PH in World TKD Culture Expo
Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Junior High School student athlete Lucas Llarena (Cardoner/ 8-Arrowsmith) won a gold medal for poomsae in the 14th World Taekwondo Culture Expo. He competed in the Cadet Male Black Recognized Poomsae Group 35 division.
Held from October 22 to 26, 2021, the Expo had offline (live) and online events. The live event was a taekwondo demonstration contest held at the Muju Taekwondo Academy in South Korea that attracted 26 domestic taekwondo teams. The online events (which Lucas competed in) included official poomsae and speed kicking competitions. More than 4,500 jins from 17 countries (including Brazil, Korea, New Caledonia, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, and the United States of America) participated in the Expo.
