"We should not stop learning. Regardless of status in life and at work, we must strive to learn new ways, discover new things, and reconnect with theories and principles, both in the academic and spiritual sense.


I took up the Masters in Public Management Program (MPM) at the Ateneo School of Government at a time when I was seriously thinking whether I should go back to the labor movement, my first love, or continue my work at the Pag-IBIG Fund. It was a good decision. The course did not only arm me with new skills and professional foundation but more importantly the significance of having a deeper sense of commitment to public service.

The MPM program inculcates values of leadership, critical thinking, accountability, social activism, and self-awareness. It also teaches its students to hold on to ethical standards and evidence-based decisions when dealing with various stakeholders of society.

Finally, the learning experience in Ateneo, while it gives much weight on individual work, fosters a strong sense of community among students. Cooperation and openness are two of the traits that one will really need and learn at ASOG. The program also paves the way for new friendships and connections which an MPM graduate can use as he or she navigates through the intricate life in government service.

These teachings led me to believe that there are a lot more things to do. There are many things left to achieve. It inspired me to think more and to dream bigger.
