The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Manila, in partnership with the Ateneo De Manila University School of Law and the Department of Foreign Affairs, invites you and your students to an online lecture entitled, “Peaceful settlement of disputes: Is the current system established by UNCLOS still relevant?”, to be given by em. Professor Dr. Dres. h.c. Rüdiger Wolfrum, to be held on 18 November 2021, Thursday, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM (Manila Time).
This lecture is an opportunity to hear from one of Germany’s leading experts in Maritime Law and in international dispute settlement. Prof. Dr. Wolfrum is the current Director emeritus of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, Germany. Prof. Dr. Wolfrum has a distinguished career in the international dispute settlement system, having been a Judge at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea from 1996 to 2017.
Prof. Dr. Wolfrum was also one of the 5 judges that decided on the Permanent Court of Arbitration case between the Philippines and China on the South China Sea in 2016.
