Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit for Life

July 3-7 is the Food Safety and Nutrition Week in Ateneo Grade School (AGS). This year’s theme is Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit For Life.  I believe that this is a very important awareness campaign that we all should support because this would be beneficial to our bodies that work, study and play all day. Even if this is just a one-week campaign, this will be of huge help for us. The aim of this is to encourage students, teachers, staff, as well as our families to support having a healthy and balanced diet. This campaign also seeks to prevent sicknesses that can harm our bodies as these can affect our daily lives. Hopefully, even when the campaign is done, we can start developing a healthy diet as a habit for life.

I, as an AGS student, have some suggestions for you on how to have a healthy and a balanced diet. You may begin by replacing your usual unhealthy snacks with fruits and vegetables. If you are not too fond of fruits and vegetables, there are other ways for you to enjoy them. For example, having fruits in shake or making some homemade veggie chips. Don’t worry, you can also still have your usual snacks but in moderation so as not ruin your healthy diet. It will not be easy in the beginning, but you can do it as long as you put your heart to it.

Always remember the reason why AGS leads this campaign: our school cares for us. They are just looking after our welfare by ensuring we keep a healthy mind and body throughout the school year. And besides, who would want to get sick when there is a whole lot of fun waiting for us in school! I’m sure our teachers will be so glad to have students who are active, healthy, and eager to learn new things rather than having boys who are always sick with no energy left to enjoy school. We, as your older brothers in Grade 6, hope to leave a lasting message especially to our younger brothers in the AGS.
