Clamshell Boxes- a band composed of Ateneo de Manila High School students Abe Autea (12M), Ivan Cruz (12B), Just Mosquera (12M), and Ryan Orias (12E)- emerged as back-to-back champion of the Assumption College Fair’s battle of the bands competition. Clamshell Boxes defeated four other bands from Xavier, La Salle and Ateneo in the finals held last November 28, 2015 in the Assumption College campus in San Lorenzo Village, Makati City. More than 30 bands auditioned for the competition, whose 2015 incarnation was dubbed, “The ArCade Challenge.”

Clamshell Boxes’ winning piece was its interpretation of Damien Rice’s 2009 hit, “Volcano.” For winning the ArCade Challenge, Clamshell Boxes received a trophy and P7,000 cash.  Damon Dadap (right) of 12H is also a member of Clamshell Boxes, but he was unable to play with the group at the ArCade Challenge.

The distinctly soothing sound of Clamshell Boxes has graced many Ateneo High School events since last year. Playing at the top of this page is video of their performance of “Little Wonders" (aka "These Small Hours”) from the celebration of World Teacher’s Month last October 5, 2015. Joining them was Damon Dadap (12H), a bona fide member of the group who couldn’t join them at the ArCade Challenge.
