December 11, 2020

A group of 1 Management (MGT) and 3 Management Engineering (ME) students from Ateneo de Manila University’s John Gokongwei School of Management (JGSOM) emerged as the overall champion in the 10th Creative Shock Social Business Case competition aimed to challenge students’ strategic thinking in dealing with social businesses.

The winning Team Big Blue Energy composed of Justin Einer C. Go (3 BS ME), Angelika Mari R. Gultia (3 BS ME), Sebastian T. Narciso (3 BS MGT), and Jaime Luciano C. Siy (3 BS ME) showcased their strong business acumen to compete against 290 teams representing 85 countries, including participants from universities of Oxford, Toronto, Harvard, and Manchester.

The theme for this year’s competition is “Business that Challenges,” reflecting the complexities and difficulties social businesses have to contend with. The event provides students access to real-life global social models, a great opportunity to put into practice their skills  and knowledge developed as part of their MGT and ME courses.

"Joining a case competition like this was such a unique experience for us! It was admittedly daunting being with other amazing students from esteemed universities across the globe. Nonetheless, we believed in ourselves and pressed forward with our best after applying what we were taught in classes like FINN 115, MKTG 111, LAS 21, and what we learned from previous case competitions here in the Philippines. We're humbled by this win and hopefully it will inspire everyone to go for learning opportunities like this!” the team said.

The 10th Creative Shock Social Business Case competition is organized by the Students’ Association of ISM University of Management and Economics in Lithuania.
