Economic Research Laboratories established at the Department of Economics

A research laboratory encourages production of research output and supports the learning process of both the faculty and students. It also has a significant role to play in raising the quality of research and at the same time in encouraging greater student engagement. While typically found in natural and physical sciences, more disciplines in social sciences are now utilizing research laboratory, which encourage not only collaborative research within their discipline but with other disciplines as well.

To this end, the Department of Economics in the School of Social Sciences of the Ateneo de Manila University has established four research laboratories, namely: International Economics (IE), Human Resource Economics (HRE), Finance and Macro Policy Economics (FMPE), and Resource and Environment, Disaster, and Energy Economics (REDEE). The aims of these economic research laboratories are to build a critical mass of scholars working in these fields within the University and to increase production of research output. These research laboratories encourage collaborative research activities, including the publication of scholarly outputs, among the faculty and students of the department as well as researchers with the other units of the University.
